Box Score Augusta, Ga. - The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team wrapped up the Jungle Rumble Tournament with a three-set loss the Bearcats of Lander University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Play-by-Play
FIRST SET
- The first set began with the teams on an even level as the score was tied six-all through the opening serves.
- The Trojans took a 9-6 lead on two kills, one each from Brittany Barnett and Cyerra Carter, and a service ace from Nicholle Yeo.
- Lander went on a 7-4 run that tied the score at 13 all before they went on a 12-1 rally to take the set 25-14.
SECOND SET
- Set two started off much like the first set with the teams trading points in the opening services but the Trojans held a slim 6-4 lead.
- The Bearcats went on a 9-0 run to take the 13-6 lead over the Trojans.
- UMO closed the gap following a 6-2 run that saw four Lander errors and an ace and a kill by Carter.
- Lander responded by closing out the set on an 8-3 run to win 25-15 and go ahead 2-0 in match points.
THIRD SET
- The Trojans showed some fire as they started the third set getting out to a seven-point lead, 12-5, over the Bearcats right off the bat.
- Six kills, three aces, one by Carter and two by Michaela Seawell, and three Lander errors contributed to UMO's 12 points.
- Mount Olive held on to a six-point lead, 20-14, as Lander called their last timeout of the set following a run where the Bearcats committed six errors.
- Following the timeout, the Bearcats climbed within two points, 20-18, on three kills and a UMO error.
- UMO was one point away from taking the third set as they held a 24-21 lead, but the Bearcats fought back scoring five straight points to win the set 26-24 and the match 3-0.
NEXT UP
The Trojans have the week to prepare for their next tournament which takes place next weekend, Sept. 1-2, at Virginia State in Ettrick, Va. UMO will compete against four opponents in the VSU Tournament including, Saint Augustine's, hosts Virginia State, Alderson Broaddus, and Richard Bland.
