MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive men's and women's track and field teams are set to open competition in the 2018 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track and Field Championship Friday in Central, S.C.

MOUNT OLIVE
- The Trojans finished the outdoor season in style as UMO acquired four NCAA Automatic Qualifiers as Leah Hanle will compete in three races (10k, 5k, 3k Steeplechase) and Jonathan Dahlke will join Hanle in the 3,000m Steeplechase.
- Mount Olive secured two additional NCAA Provisional Qualifiers on the women's side for Celine Ritter (1500m) and Candise Lockett (Hammer).
- UMO also secured 10 NCAA Provisional Qualifiers on the men's side for Richard Fisher (400m, 4x400m Relay), Johnathan Dahlke (1500m, 5000m), Adam Craig (1500m, 5000m, 10000m), Tai Smith (5000m, 10000m), Jereamy Hall (10000m), Montrell Homes (4x400m Relay), Johnny Middlebrooks (4x400m Relay), Tedric Shannon (4x400m Relay)
- Coming off the indoor season UMO won 20 individual medals during the men's indoor championship.
- Christopher Perez-Mondragon, Jonathan Dahlke, Daniel Francken, Adam Craig, Trevor Carr, Johnny Middlebrooks, Richard Fisher, Tedric Shannon, Jonathon Wojcuich, Montrell Perry, Alexander Struzyna, Alton Cornu, and Martin Bayles all became Conference Champions winning their events.
- Mount Olive also had 15 Trojans earn a spot on the podium in their respective events during the indoor championship on the women's side.
- Celine Ritter, Leah Hanle, Julia Bridges, Shona Blades, Taylor Moncrief, and Candise Lockett all became Conference Champions winning their events.
- The men's and women's track and field teams are looking to not only defend their outdoor championship but repeat their triple crown victory from a season ago when the Trojans won the cross country and indoor & outdoor track and field conference championships.

- Following the day one fielding events and prelims of the track events, Mount Olive will compete on day two in Central, S.C. to try and defend their championship title.
