BRISTOL, TENN. – The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team fell 62-50 to the Tornado of King University on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action in Bristol, Tenn.

Play-by-Play

FIRST QUARTER

  • Mount Olive trailed by two, 6-4, at the 7:11 mark of the first quarter but King went on a 10-0 run to take the 16-4 lead around the 4:50 mark.
  • The Trojans scored seven points in the final four minutes but the Tornado held a 16-point lead, 27-11, entering the second quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

  • King continued to excel as the Tornado outscored the Trojans 16-11 in the second quarter holding a 43-22 lead at halftime.

THIRD QUARTER

  • Mount Olive come out in the third quarter and outscored King 17-9, as they closed the 20-point lead to 11, trailing 52-39 heading into the final ten minutes of action.

FOURTH QUARTER

  • The King lead dwindled even further as a Felecity Havens layup and a Ni'Ya Styles three-pointer cut the lead to eight, 52-44, with 8:30 to play.
  • Mount Olive stayed within about seven points of King through the next seven minutes, but the Tornado were the only team to score in the final 1:40 as they went on to win 62-50.
