University of Mount Olive's quest for a conference title in only its second year of men's lacrosse came to an Sunday as the second-seeded Trojans fell to top-seeded and nationally third-ranked Limestone in the championship game of the 2014 Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Tournament Sunday at Gaffney, S.C. The Trojans finish the season with a record of 13-3, including two wins over nationally top 10-ranked Pfeiffer.

Mount Olive was represented on the All-Tournament Team by Luke Morris, Sean Shewey and Cameron Walsh.

The Trojans tied the game 1-1 on Alex Tinadall's goal with 9:19 left in the first period and Spencer Gelinas' goal four minutes later pulled Mount Olive within 3-2. Limestone (15-1) then broke the game open with five unanswered goals and Mount Olive never recovered. Stephen Bowlan's goal with three seconds left in the second period ended the Saints' streak and drew the Trojans within 8-3 at halftime.

After scoring two goals in the first half, Limestone's Mike Messenger added two goals in the third period as the Saints built their lead to double digits at 15-5. Mount Olive had the final goal of the game as Josh Schwarz scored with nine seconds remaining in the contest. Schwarz and Tindall led the Trojans with two goals apiece.

Patrick Sheridan of Limestone was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

Mount Olive advanced to the championship game with a 10-6 win over No. 3 seed Pfeiffer Wednesday at Amon Field.

The Trojans lose 14 seniors from this year's squad. Mount Olive has finished .500 or better in each of its first two years of men's lacrosse and has an overall record of 20-10.
