Box Score Freshman goalkeeper Carolin Edenhofer recorded a collegiate-high 12 saves and Mount Olive fought off a 26-shot attack before falling to West Florida 2-0 in the final day of the North Georgia Women's Soccer Tournament Monday at Dahlonega, Ga. The Trojans survived eight corner kicks before surrendering their first goal.
Mount Olive (0-3-0) used four saves by Edenhofer and two defender saves to keep the match scoreless through the first 38 minutes. Trojan midfielder Christine Rocchio was credited with one save and Mount Olive was awarded a team save on a header attempt in the seventh minute.
West Florida (2-0) broke through at 38:41 as Chelsea Palmer scored an unassisted goal. Palmer shot from the left side to the upper 90 to give the Argonauts a 1-0 halftime lead.
The Trojans had opportunities to even the match early in the second half on shot attempts by Carlee Bock and Mary Knepp. West Florida goalkeeper Sarah Story made a save on Knepp's shot.
West Florida added to its lead at the 62:23 mark as Sashana Campbell headed the ball into the box and Shanice Monteith finished with a one touch. West Florida had 17 of their shots in the second half, but Edenhofer kept the Argonauts out of the goal over the final 28 minutes.
Mount Olive finished with seven shots for the match.
The Trojans are off until Saturday when Mount Olive opens Conference Carolinas action playing host to Limestone. Match time is 7 p.m. at Amon Field and will be preceded by Trojan men's soccer vs. Limestone.
