Box Score Mount Olive freshman Kelsey Cirrito recorded six saves in her first action in goal, but host North Georgia outshot the Trojans 25-10 Saturday afternoon and the Saints rolled to a 7-0 win in Dahlonega, Ga. in day one of the North Georgia Women's Soccer Tournament.
Six different players recorded goals for the Saints (2-0). Sophia Matanok's goal 4:22 into the match was all the offense North Georgia needed. Kelly Penston and Whitney Dover added goals of their own to extend the lead to 3-0 by intermission.
Cirrito and Carolin Edenhofner turned away seven shots in all for Mount Olive (0-2). But North Georgia's attack was relentless, especially in the second half, when the Saints blew the game open.
In the opening 45 minutes, the Trojans matched their hosts eight shots apiece. Mount Olive had just two attempts in the second half.
Mallory Sayre recorded four saves for the Saints, including a pair early in the match on shots by Carlee Bock and another on an attempt by Ellie Barnes when the contest was still in doubt.
The Trojans return to action in Dahlonega Monday at 11 a.m. against West Florida.
