Christie McConnell is the program's best all-time setter with 5,992 career assists and holds the all-time single-season mark with 1,666. She still ranks 22nd overall in NCAA Division II history in career assists. Christie McConnell also holds the team's record with 74 assists in a match.
She was a three-time all-conference selection and was named Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference (CVAC) All-Tournament Team during her four-year career at UMO.
In her time with the program alongside fellow inductee Colby Mangum Rosser, the Trojans achieved four straight 20-win seasons, including a record of 30 victories in 2002. The teammates were also part of the only two teams in UMO history to reach the NCAA Tournament (2004, 2005).
She also served one season as the UMO men's and women's volleyball assistant (2007-08).
"It's been 17 years since I stepped into Kornegay Arena as an athlete, yet it still feels like yesterday. I was blessed with an experience that combined my passion for a game with the gift of making lifelong friends," said Christie McConnell. "Now, all this time later, I am so thankful for the honor of being inducted into the Mount Olive Hall of Fame. My sincerest thanks to the committee who nominated me, but mostly, my teammates who I'd not be here without."
