University of Mount Olive

1981-82 Men's Tennis Team over forty years ago compiled a remarkable season and earned the school's first-ever Eastern Tarheel Conference regular season championship. The program would sweep the conference tournament with a perfect 18 points after winning all singles and doubles matches. All-Conference honors were awarded to David McGee, Kermit Nixon, Paul Pagano, Michael Bowen, Tom Coggin, and Jean Scaturo, while the head coach Danny Phillips was named the Conference Coach of the Year.

During the season, the Trojans posted an 11-6 overall record before the regional tournament. The team also finished second in the Mount Olive Invitational Tennis Tournament that season.

"We are thrilled to be inducted into the 2022 UMO Athletics Hall of Fame class," said members of the 1981-82 Men's Tennis Team.
