Katie Paschal joined the ranks of the Mount Olive coaching staff as an assistant during the 2015-16 season after serving as the student assistant for a season. Paschal is a key part of the women's basketball coaching staff as she not only assists in coaching the team but also acts as the logistics, recruiting and film breakdown coordinator.
In her first season as an assistant, Paschal helped the Trojans to a 19-11 overall record and a 16-6 mark in Conference Carolinas play. Mount Olive earned the No. 2 seed in the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Tournament and advanced to the tournament semifinals.
Paschal helped the Trojans captured their third consecutive winning conference record during the 2017-18 season. She trained junior guard Felecity Havens throughout the season which helped the basketball player collect numerous honors which were capped off with a D2CCA 3rd-Team All-American title.
During the 2016-17 season, Paschal helped the squad to their second-best record in program history as the team went 22-7 overall and 12-4 in conference action with a run to the Conference Carolinas semifinals. Four members of that squad earn all-conference honors in Daria Simmons, Felecity Havens, Kiara Jones, Ni'Ya Styles. In addition, four Trojans, Rachel Fehl, Julie Gonzalez-Rodriguez, China Marshall, and Ni'Ya Styles, landed on the all-academic team for their hard work in the classroom as well as on the court.
She served as a student assistant coach during the 2014-15 and was selected for the WBCA "So You Want To Be A Coach" program put on by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Paschal was one of 60 students nationwide in all divisions to be selected for the program.
Paschal transferred to Mount Olive from East Carolina in 2013-14 for her final year of eligibility. An All-Conference Carolinas 2nd-Team selection, Paschal tied for the third highest single-game scoring total in school history with 35 points against Bluefield State.
