Colby Mangum

University of Mount Olive alum Colby Mangum was named head women's volleyball coach and assistant men's volleyball coach at her alma mater in May 2014.

A four-year starting middle blocker, Mangum helped lead Mount Olive to its first and second NCAA Tournament appearances in 2004 and 2005. The 2005 team set school records for best overall (28-8/.772) and conference (19-1/.950) winning percentage.

Mangum remains the Trojans' all-time career blocks leader and had the top hitting percentage when she graduated. She continues to hold the school record for most kills in a match without an error.

Before taking over as head coach at Mount Olive, Mangum spent the previous two years as head women's volleyball coach and compliance officer at Louisburg (Junior) College. In her two years at Louisburg, she guided the team to its first winning seasons and highest regional finish since 2008.

Mangum served as head varsity and junior varsity coach at Southern Wayne High School, leading the varsity team to three consecutive state tournament appearances. She also spent five years as head of the 15's, 17's and 18's levels at W.A.V.E. Volleyball Club in Goldsboro, N.C. Mangum was co-founder and vice-president of Eastern Elite Volleyball Club in Goldsboro, as well as head coach of the 18's national level.

Mangum earned her B.A. in English, language and literature, with an emphasis in communications.
