MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive men's soccer team put together an impressive offensive performance Tuesday afternoon, defeating Shaw University 7-1 at Amon Field.

After Shaw scored in the opening minute of the contest, the Trojans responded with seven unanswered goals to earn the victory. Mount Olive outshot the Bears 27-7 and held a 16-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Drew Huff and Kevin Jimenez led the Trojan attack with two goals apiece. Huff scored Mount Olive's first goal of the match in the 16th minute before adding his second tally in the second half. Jimenez found the back of the net twice in the first half, including a goal assisted by Leon Odongo.

Mount Olive continued its offensive pressure in the second half as Haythem Abraham, Zao Cheron and Rami Bayoumi each added a goal. Cheron also recorded an assist, while Tristan Sheppert and Pablo Salazar contributed assists on Cheron's goal.

The Trojans' balanced offensive attack featured five different goal scorers, while Kingston Ouellette earned the win in goal.

Mount Olive will hit the road for its next contest, traveling to Ettrick, Va., to face Virginia State on Friday, Sept. 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
