MOUNT OLIVE — The University of Mount Olive men's soccer team fell 5-1 to No. 8 Lees-McRae on Saturday afternoon at Amon Field. 

Lees-McRae, ranked eighth nationally in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II poll, entered the contest with a 4-0-1 record.

The Bobcats opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Mount Olive responded just 1:18 later. Haythem Abraham found the back of the net in the 15th minute for his second goal of the season, leveling the match at 1-1.

Lees-McRae regained the lead in the 20th minute when Conor O'Gorman scored his second goal of the afternoon. The Bobcats added another goal less than a minute later to take a 3-1 advantage into halftime. The Bobcats added two goals in the second half, with Andrea Marrazzo scoring in the 58th minute and Owen Smith adding another in the 70th minute to complete the scoring.

Mount Olive goalkeeper Nick Cutlip recorded seven saves in the contest, while Lees-McRae goalkeeper Jonathan Kienle made four saves. The Trojans finished with eight shots, including five on target, while the Bobcats recorded 15 shots with 12 on goal. Mount Olive also held a 5-5 advantage in corner kicks.

The loss moves Mount Olive to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Lees-McRae improves to 5-0-2 overall and 2-0-2 in league action.

Mount Olive returns to action against Chowan in Murfreesboro on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
