Trojans Dominate Shaw 7-0, Extend Win Streak to Seven

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Shaw University, 7-0, at the John Neal Walker Tennis Center to extend its winning streak to seven matches.

The Trojans (9-4) set the tone early by securing the doubles point in convincing fashion. The duo of Kristoffer Dalbak and Bram Poel led the way at No. 1 doubles with a 6-0 victory, while Rasmus Grindheim and Niklas Gruenefeldt followed with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot. Philip Carstensen and Luke Oosthuizen completed the sweep with a 6-1 decision at No. 3 doubles.

Carrying momentum into singles play, Mount Olive continued its strong showing by winning all six matches in straight sets or tiebreak fashion. Hiroma Nishikata cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles, while Oosthuizen earned a 6-3, 6-4 win in the No. 2 position. Joao Sonaglia added another point with a 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 3 singles, and Snyder Pearson dominated at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

In tightly contested matches, Jacob Womble battled back after dropping the first set to win 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5) at No. 5 singles, and Lasse Wolfshorndl secured the sweep with a 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4) win at No. 6.

The Trojans will hit the road for a conference matchup on Tuesday, traveling to Murfreesboro to take on Chowan at 2 p.m.
