Trojans Dominate Chowan 6-1 in Road Conference Victory

MURFREESBORO — The University of Mount Olive men's tennis team extended its winning streak to eight matches with a 6-1 victory over Chowan on Tuesday afternoon.
The Trojans continued their dominant run in Conference Carolinas play, remaining unbeaten in league action while showcasing depth across both doubles and singles competition.

Mount Olive set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the opening point. At the top spot, Kristoffer Dalbak and Bram Poel secured a 6-2 victory over Marcel Ungerboeck, while Philip Peter Carstensen and Niklas Gruenefeldt followed with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Snyder Pearson and Hiroma Nishikata completed the sweep with a 6-4 decision in the third position.

In singles play, the Trojans won five of six matches to seal the team victory. Dalbak earned a hard-fought win at No. 1 singles, defeating Ungerboeck 6-2, 6-7 (7-5), 6-2. Gruenefeldt delivered a strong performance at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-0 victory, while Carstensen controlled his match at No. 4, winning 6-4, 6-0.


Nishikata added another point at No. 5 singles with a 7-5, 6-2 win, and Pearson closed out the scoring for Mount Olive with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 6.


Chowan's lone point came at No. 2 singles, where Thales Eduardo Andrade Sette edged Poel in a three-set battle, 7-6, 2-6, 7-5.


With the win, the Trojans continue to build momentum as they head deeper into conference play, riding an eight-match winning streak.


The Trojans return to action Friday, traveling to Wilson for a Conference Carolinas matchup against Barton. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
