Top-Seeded Trojans Down Young Harris, Advance to Championship Match

SUMTER, S.C. – The University of Mount Olive men's tennis team continued its dominant postseason run on Friday morning, defeating No. 4 seed Young Harris, 4-1, in the semifinals of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Championship at the Palmetto Tennis Center.

With the win, top-seeded Mount Olive advances to the championship match and will face No. 2 Belmont Abbey on Saturday at 9 a.m. for the conference title.

The Trojans set the tone early by claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The duo of Bram Poel and Kristoffer Dalbak secured a 7-5 victory at the top flight, while Luke Oosthuizen and Philip Peter Carstensen added a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles to give Mount Olive the early 1-0 advantage.


In singles play, Mount Olive took control with strong performances across the lineup. Niklas Gruenefeldt delivered a commanding 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, and Carstensen followed with a straight-set 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 5 to push the Trojans within one point of clinching the match.


Bram Poel sealed the victory in decisive fashion at No. 2 singles, earning a 6-4, 6-2 win to clinch the match and send Mount Olive to the championship round.


The Trojans will now look to capture the Conference Carolinas title as they square off against Belmont Abbey in Saturday morning's final.
