Mount Olive Celebrates Three Seniors on Senior Day in Matchup Against Barton

MOUNT OLIVE — University of Mount Olive women's flag football honored its senior class in an 80-6 loss to Barton College on Senior Day Thursday night.

Before kickoff, the Trojans celebrated three members of the program who have helped lay the foundation for the team's growth: Kris'Shyia McKoy, Evelisse Martinez, and Andrea McClammy. The trio was recognized in a pregame ceremony, drawing applause from teammates, coaches, and fans in attendance.

On the field, Barton's high-powered offense proved difficult to slow, jumping out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter and extending it to 46-6 by halftime. The Bulldogs finished with 360 yards of total offense and nine passing touchdowns.

Mount Olive's lone score came in the second quarter, as the Trojans broke through to get on the board and make it 26-6. Despite the deficit, the Trojans continued to compete, highlighted by defensive efforts from multiple players and a key interception return by Zamarah Rawls.

McKoy led the offense with 14 completions for 70 yards while also contributing on the ground with 38 rushing yards. Evelisse Martinez made an impact in the field position battle, averaging over 26 yards per punt across five attempts.

Though the final score did not reflect the effort, the night remained centered on the program's seniors and their contributions. Their leadership and commitment have helped shape the culture of Mount Olive women's flag football, leaving a lasting impact that goes beyond the result.

As the Trojans move forward, the legacy of McKoy, Martinez, and McClammy will continue to be a cornerstone for the program's future.

The Trojans begin postseason play in Durham at the Durham County Memorial Stadium as the quarterfinals begin on Friday, Apr. 17.
