Box Score MOUNT OLIVE -  Mount Olive women's tennis team opened its home slate in dominant fashion, rolling to a 6–1 victory over Davis & Elkins College on Sunday afternoon in the first home dual of the spring season. The match also marked the first dual win for newly hired head coach Andrew Sendek.

After multiple weather-related cancellations delayed the start of the spring schedule, Mount Olive wasted no time making a statement in its long-awaited home opener. The Trojans set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point.

At No. 1 doubles, Simone Szovan and Nina Bernier earned a 6–2 win over Liebe Oosthuizen and Erin Laubscher. Victoria Calle and Alina Esser followed with a victory at No. 2 doubles against Lily Wentzler and Fabienne Lahn, while Julia Jagiella and Courtney Howell completed the sweep with a 6–2 win at No. 3 doubles.

Mount Olive carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of six matches. Szovan delivered a commanding performance at No. 1 singles, defeating Wentzler 6–0, 6–0. Calle added a straight-set win at No. 2 singles, topping Lahn 6–4, 6–2, and Bernier followed with a 6–4, 6–3 victory over Oosthuizen at No. 3.

Jagiella secured the clinching point at No. 4 singles with a 6–0, 7–6 win over Laubscher. Esser earned a 6–0, 6–3 decision over Emilina Poppe Golac at No. 5, while Maddie Frazier closed the day with a hard-fought 6–2, 1–6, 1–0 (10–8) win over Howell at No. 6 singles.

The Trojans will return to action on Wednesday, March 11, when they host in-state rival Barton College at 1 p.m.
