Watt's Seven RBIs Unable to Hold Off GCSU Walk-Off

Lexington, S.C. – The Mount Olive Trojans battled back from an early deficit and built a late lead, but a ninth-inning rally lifted the Georgia College Bobcats to a 13–11 walk-off victory in a high-scoring midweek matchup on Tuesday evening.

Mount Olive overcame a slow start with a six-run fourth inning and added insurance runs late to take control of the game. However, Georgia College mounted a comeback in the final frame, erasing a three-run deficit before delivering a walk-off home run with two outs to secure the win.

Mount Olive struck first in the opening inning when Lane McLean reached on a walk, stole second, and later scored on a Bobcat error to give the Trojans a 1–0 lead. Georgia College answered quickly in the bottom half, using an RBI single and a sacrifice fly to take a 2–1 advantage.

The Bobcats continued to apply pressure early, pushing their lead to 5–1 after three innings. However, Mount Olive flipped the momentum in the fourth with a huge offensive surge.  The Trojans erupted for six runs in the top of the fourth inning, sparked by RBI hits from Tanner Ferguson and Lane McLean before Garrett Moffett delivered a sacrifice fly. The big swing came from Rowan Watt, who launched a three-run homer to left field to cap the inning and give Mount Olive a 7–5 lead.

Georgia College cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the fourth, but Mount Olive responded in the sixth. After McLean and Josh Mason reached, Watt hit another three-run homer to make it 10–6.  Mount Olive added an insurance run in the seventh when Watt recorded his seventh RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly, scoring Ferguson and pushing the lead to 11–7.

Georgia College slowly chipped away late, plating a run in the seventh before setting up a dramatic ninth inning. The Bobcats opened the frame with back-to-back singles and cut the deficit to one with a two-run double. After two outs, Georgia College completed the comeback with a three-run walk-off home run from Carson Phillips to secure the 13–11 victory.

The Trojans return this week to face Erskine in the three-game series, with the first game beginning on Friday at 2:00 PM in Due West, S.C.
