Trojans Come Up Short in Battle Against Ferrum

MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive men's soccer team fell 3-2 to Ferrum College on Saturday night at Amon Field.

The Trojans (2-10, 1-8 Conference Carolinas) responded after Ferrum took an early lead, with Haythem Abraham finding the back of the net in the 31st minute to even the score at 1-1. Abraham's goal, his third of the season, sent the teams into halftime tied.

Mount Olive continued to push offensively, and Drew Huff cut the deficit to one in the 78th minute with his fifth goal of the season. The Trojans had an opportunity to equalize late in the match but were unable to convert a penalty kick in the 81st minute.

Despite the result, Mount Olive finished with a 16-12 advantage in shots and earned nine corner kicks compared to seven for Ferrum. Josiah Jones recorded five saves in goal for the Trojans.
