BANNER ELK, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team put together a strong offensive effort but ultimately fell on the road to Lees-McRae, 84-67, on Saturday afternoon inside Williams Gymnasium.

The Trojans opened the game with energy, briefly taking an early lead behind efficient interior scoring from Jerin Truesdale. Truesdale was dominant in the paint throughout the afternoon, finishing with a game-high 21 points on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting from the field, while also adding seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Lees-McRae responded with a strong first quarter, using perimeter shooting to build a 22-13 advantage after one. Mount Olive answered in the second period, outscoring the Bobcats 21-18 to pull within six points at halftime, 40-34. Jayla Hicks sparked the rally with timely buckets, while Aniyah Vanhook and Emily Wiebelhaus provided key contributions off the bench.

The Trojans continued to compete coming out of the break, shooting an efficient 62.5 percent from the field in the third quarter. Truesdale and Savannah McAfee combined to keep Mount Olive within striking distance, trimming the deficit to seven late in the period. However, Lees-McRae maintained control heading into the fourth, leading 56-49.

In the final quarter, Mount Olive fought to close the gap, but the Bobcats used a late surge and hot shooting from beyond the arc to pull away.

Hicks finished with 10 points and five assists, while McAfee added 11 points and four rebounds. Mount Olive shot 51.1 percent from the floor and recorded 36 points in the paint, highlighting the team's strong interior presence.

The Trojans also received solid bench production, totaling 19 points from reserves, as they continued to show growth and resilience against a tough conference opponent.
