MOUNT OLIVE - The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team earned their first sweep of the season against Conference Carolina foe Converse University on Saturday.

The Trojans move to 2-1 in league play behind the win, with the Valkyries moving to 1-2.

Kaitlyn Landis fueled an 8-2 run late in set one with two kills. Olivia Melvin added a kill and an ace, and Ashlyn Haynie chipped in a kill. Mount Olive closed out the set 25-22 to take a 1-0 lead.

In set two, the teams traded points in a back-and-forth battle. Converse tied the score at 24, but Landis delivered a kill before a Converse error sealed the 26-24 win for UMO.

The Trojans led by as many as 10 in set three and finished with a 25-18 victory, securing their first sweep of the season.

Landis led the team in kills, followed by Reisinger (8) and Melvin (7). Reid tallied 15 assists, and Tanton added 13.
Mount Olive visits UNC Pembroke on Wednesday at 6 p.m. for a conference matchup.
