UMO finishes third at Conference Carolinas Championship

SNOW HILL, N.C. (April 8) – Sophomore Lucie Levet tied for third overall on the individual leaderboard on Tuesday afternoon, as the University of Mount Olive women's golf program claimed third place at the Conference Carolinas Championship held at Cutter Creek Golf Club.

 The Trojans jumped two spots in the team standings during the final round to place third and posted a score of 72-over 936 (311-325-300) with four golfers in the top 20 overall. UMO has placed among the top three in four of the last five league tournaments. Erskine secures its first Conference Carolinas Championship and earned the automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional behind a score of 66-over 930 (318-305-307). Emmanuel finished as the runner-up after carding a 71-over 935 (319-316-300).

For a consecutive year, Levet captured all-tournament honors following a career-best finish at the Conference Carolinas Championship. She shot her lowest round of the tournament on the final day with a one-over 73, which was also the second-lowest score of the day. Levet tied for third after firing a nine-over 225 (76-76-73) with seven birdies and 34 pars in 54 holes played.

Junior Aoi Ito climbed five spots on Tuesday to tie for 12th after competing at the three-round event with a score of 19-over 235 (76-84-75). She produced a stellar final round, shooting three-over 75, while completing the event with 35 pars and two birdies.
Sophomore Valentina Agostino shot a 22-over 238 (77-84-77) to tie for 15th while converting four birdies and 28 pars in three rounds of play. Senior Victoria Morelli tied for 19th with a final score of 24-over 240 (82-81-77) behind three birdies and 26 pars. Junor Elin Kennborn competed in the last two rounds and carded a 15-over 159 with one eagle, two birdies, and 18 pars.

Abigail Cheney of Shorter and Keely Johnson of Emmanuel tied atop the leaderboard with tournament totals of 224. Cheney shot 74 in the final round while Johnson carded a two-under 70. Johnson was named the individual medalist, claiming the title on the third playoff hole. Johnson is the first Emmanuel women's golfer to win individual medalist honors.
