ETTRICK, Va. (March 25) – Playing their last non-conference match of the year, the University of Mount Olive men's tennis program produced an impressive 6-0 win at Virginia State in their first meet-up on Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, the Trojans have won three of their last four matches to improve to 5-7 overall while earning their first road victory. The two sides met for the first time in program history with the UMO taking the 1-0 edge in the series. Meanwhile, the Virginia State Trojans fall to 0-6 this season with a 0-4 mark at home.

Hiroma Nishikata delivered a 6-0 win in only 16 minutes over Bryan Jordan and Krishi Motam in the first position. The freshman

Jacob Womble competed in second doubles and registered another 6-0 victory versus Brandon Farmer and Jalen Felix.
The Trojans sealed the 6-0 win over the Virginia State Trojans after claiming all five singles matches. In the first singles, Oosthuizen produced a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Farmer before Baker followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win against Jordan in the second position. Pearson won in straight sets in the third slot by a score of 6-0, 6-1 while facing Motam. In the fourth singles, Womble earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Felix clinching the match before freshman
Viggo Lindstrup won 6-0, 6-0 against Melvin Cooper.
Mount Olive returns for its third conference play of the season on Friday, March 28, when it travels to NGU, starting at 1 p.m.
