OKATIE, S.C. (March 18) – Senior
Victoria Morelli shot an impressive two-under 70 in the final round at the Outfield Intercollegiate on Tuesday to earn her first top-15 finish of the spring, as the Trojan placed 11th in the team standings.
The University of Mount Olive women's golf program finished 11th overall with a final score of 91-over 955 (326-323-306) in a field featuring eight nationally-ranked opponents. Savannah College of Art and Design claimed the event victory by six strokes after shooting a 43-over 907 (312-299-296) with three golfers in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard. Eastern Florida State placed second overall with a score of 49-over 913 (301-310-302), while UIndy and Carson-Newman tied for third place after carding a 60-over 924.
Morelli jumped 17 spots on the individual leaderboard in the third round with a two-under 70 behind three birdies and 14 pars. She tied for 15th overall with a final score of 14-over 230 (82-78-70) while recording four birdies and 34 pars at the Outfield Club.
Sophomore
Lucie Levet shot a 22-over 238 (80-77-81) to tie for 32rd with four birdies and 26 pars in 54 holes of play. Fellow sophomore
Valentina Agostino tied for 41st overall after carding a 25-over 241 (79-86-76) while converting two birdies and 31 pars.
Junior
Violette Daudin shot a score of 32-over 248 (85-84-79) with two birdies and 23 pars to tie for 57th overall in the field. Fellow junior
Aoi Ito tied for 71st on the individual leaderboard after shooting 38-over 254 (86-84-84) with two birdies and 24 pars.
Eastern Florida State freshman Mila Tang earned individual medalist honors with a five-over 221 (68-77-76) after converting seven birdies over three rounds.
Mount Olive returns to play on March 24-25 at the Lady Bearcat Invitational hosted by Lander in Greenwood, South Carolina.
