GREENVILLE, S.C. (March 11) – Following back-to-back complete games in the circle, University of Mount Olive freshman
Linda Hodge was selected the Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.
Hodge posted a 2-0 week in the circle after tossing two complete games, as the Trojans finished with a 3-1 mark in non-conference play last week. Additionally, she held a 0.00 ERA with 10 strikeouts and three walks over 14.0 innings while holding opponents to a .109 batting average
On Friday, Hodge improved to 4-3 overall after tossing her second career complete-game shutout with a season-high eight strikeouts over 7.0 innings pitched. She retired the side in order four times while carrying a no-hitter into the final inning before surrendering only one hit in the frame in a 6-0 win over Shaw.
Over the weekend, Hodge earned the victory after tossing her second complete game of the week. She yielded just one unearned run on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk in 7.0 innings pitched (105 pitches). Hodge retired the initial nine batters she faced and forced a staggering 17 flyouts in a 4-1 win over Millersville.
Mount Olive return to action on Wednesday, March 12, for a doubleheader versus UNC Pembroke in Conference Carolinas action with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
