MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team rolled to a 79–42 win over Bluefield University on Saturday afternoon at Kornegay Arena, marking the Trojans' second consecutive victory and a strong showing in the 60th Annual Pickle Classic.
Kayla Jackson delivered a career performance, erupting for a personal-best 25 points on an efficient 10-of-14 shooting while adding five rebounds including three from deep. Jackson fueled a Mount Olive offense that controlled the game from start to finish, outscoring Bluefield in every quarter and closing the afternoon with 40 points in the paint.
Jerin Truesdale was dominant around the rim and at the free-throw line, finishing with 19 points and six rebounds while going a perfect 11-for-11 at the stripe.
Jayla Hicks filled the stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds, and a team-high five assists, while
Emily Wiebelhaus sparked the bench with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
Mount Olive set the tone early, building a 22–10 lead after the opening quarter and carrying a 39–18 advantage into halftime. The Trojans continued to surge in the second half, pushing the margin to as many as 37 while holding Bluefield to just 32.6 percent shooting for the game.
UMO dominated on the glass with a 45–33 rebounding edge and forced 28 turnovers, converting them into 30 points.
Jada Priebe was a force defensively and on the boards, pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds and adding five points.
With the win, Mount Olive improves to 2–1 on the season and continues building momentum through to their next game against conference for Francis Marion on the road in Florence, S.C.
