Box Score Raleigh- The University of Mount Olive Men's Basketball team put together a gritty effort against Shaw Monday evening after battling in the Barton 45-Second Classic over the weekend.  The Trojans fought but were unable to close against the Bears and fall, 93-89 in an out of conference matchup
Jefferson McLamb paced UMO with 20 points on an efficient 7-for-14 shooting, including four threes, helping steady the offense during key stretches.
Redford Dunton made a major impact on both ends with 7 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, and a steal in just 22 minutes. Alongside him, Raul Perez delivered a complete performance with 11 points, a team-high 9 rebounds, and 3 assists, providing an impressive showing.
UMO fought through early turnovers and foul trouble, but their defense tightened as the game progressed—holding Shaw to several long cold stretches and generating points off stops. The Trojans attacked the glass well, with Perez and Dunton controlling key rebounds that kept possessions alive.
However, Shaw answered every UMO surge, capitalizing at the free-throw line and converting timely baskets in the final minutes. Despite a strong second-half push fueled by McLamb's shot-making and Perez's playmaking, the Trojans couldn't fully close the gap.
Mount Olive returns Friday at home for their first game of the 60^th Annual Pickle Classic against Middle Georgia State, playing at 7:00 PM.
