GREENSBORO, N.C. (July 24) – For a third-straight year, the University of Mount Olive baseball program garnered the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award presented by Sports Attack on Wednesday morning.
To be eligible for the award, teams must hold a minimum cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for the 2023-24 academic year. The honor is available to all NCAA, NAIA, junior college and high school baseball programs. The ABCA recognized over 800 programs from across the country this summer, including more than 470 collegiate programs.
The Trojans were the lone Conference Carolinas teams to be recognized by the ABCA this season after boasting a cumulative GPA of 3.34.
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
