No. 23 Men's Tennis collects win over King, 6-1

MOUNT OLIVE (April 12) – The Trojans remained a perfect 6-0 on their home court on Senior Day following a 6-1 victory over King on Friday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action at the John Neal Walker Tennis Center.

With the win, the University of Mount Olive men's tennis program improves to 12-3 overall with a 4-1 record in conference play. The Trojans remain in a tie for third place in the league standings entering the final week of the regular season. Meanwhile, King falls to 2-12 this season behind a 0-5 mark in league action.

The Trojans swept the doubles session on Friday to build an early 1-0 advantage to begin the match. Senior Guilherme Zotin de Oliveira and freshman Kristoffer Dalbak rolled to a 6-0 win over Alex Sodre and Mat Vieira in the first slot before seniors Adam Ibrahim and Diego Ortega Cadahia delivered a 6-3 victory against Isaac Yang and Rhys Halcrow in the second doubles. Mount Olive received a win via default in the third position to complete the sweep.

In the singles session, UMO claimed five of the six singles matches to seal a 6-1 win over the Tornado. de Oliveira won in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 over Halcrow in the first slot before sophomore Niklas Gruenefeldt dropped a 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 0-1 (7-10) decision to Sodre in the second doubles. In the third position, Dalbak captured a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) victory versus Yang while sophomore Bram Poel produced a 6-0, 6-3 win in the fourth slot over Andre Schiabel in the fourth slot. In the fifth singles, Ibrahim cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Vieira before UMO collected a win via default in the sixth position.

The Trojans return to the court tomorrow, Saturday, April 13, when they host Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas play at 11 a.m.
