SALISBURY, N.C. (March 27) – For the second time this season, University of Mount Olive graduate student
Ethan Imbimbo was tabbed as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.
A native of Brentwood, New Hampshire, Imbimbo became the first UMO pitcher since Mount Olive Hall of Famer and former MLB draft pick Carter Capp in 2011 to toss a no-hitter. Imbimbo pitched seven innings on 88 pitches and tallied six strikeouts and zero walks while facing the minimum 21 batters in an 11-0 win over No. 21 ranked UNC Pembroke in Game 2 on Thursday night. Making the transition to starter this season, Imbimbo holds an impressive 5-0 record with 32 strikeouts and 14 walks over 37.1 innings pitched. He has held his opponents to a .189 batting average this season, which leads Conference Carolinas this season.
Mount Olive will begin a three-game series in Conference Carolinas play on Friday, March 29, against Chowan, starting at 5 p.m.
