CLINTON, S.C. (Dec. 3) – Facing a nationally-ranked opponent, the University of Mount Olive women's wrestling program dropped a 35-12 decision at Presbyterian in a non-conference dual on Tuesday night.
With the loss, the Trojans suffered their first loss of the season, falling to 3-1 overall while the two sides met for the second time in program history. Meanwhile, the Blue Hose improve to 2-0 this year after competing in two duals and a pair of opens.
In the opening bout at 103, freshman
Lillian Prendergast claimed a first-round fall against Chiara Barbieri to establish an early 5-0 lead. Presbyterian answered with six-straight victories, including three tech falls and a pair of forfeits to hold a 25-7 advantage. Sophomore
Savannah Bramhall responded with a fall in the 160-weight class versus Isabella Gretzinger to cut the deficit to 25-12. The Blue Hose secured pins in the final two matches to capture a 35-12 victory.
Mount Olive returns to Kornegay Arena this Sunday, Dec. 8, when it hosts the Trojan Duals at 1 p.m.
