SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 9) – The University of Mount Olive men's cross country program finished 17th overall at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship in the team standings on Saturday morning while competing at the Milliken Research Park.
The Trojans featured seven runners in the race and totaled 451 points to place 17th in a field of 28 programs. Wingate secured the regional title for a fourth straight year behind another perfect 15-point score. Augusta finished second overall with 74 points behind four individuals in the top 20 while Anderson placed third after tallying 102 points.
For a consecutive race, senior
Riley Willcox paced the Trojans after posting a time of 33 minutes, 12.1 seconds to finish 62nd overall in the 10-kilometer race. He posted an average mile time of 5:20 in his second appearance at regionals. Willcox completes his final year with Mount Olive as a third-team all-conference selection following a 17th-place finish at the league championship.

Aman Tsegay crossed the line in 33:34.9 to place 75th in a field of nearly 190 competitors on Saturday. Just 10 spots back, freshman
Ayden Thompson made his first appearance at regionals and finished 85th overall with a time of 33:55.1. Junior
Josh Hendren crossed the line in 100th place with a mark of 34:19.1 while senior
Richard Villafranco registered a time of 35:19.2 to finish 129th. Additionally, sophomore
Evan Hall (137th, 35:37.8) and freshman
James Cabrera (146th, 36:01.0) competed on the regional stage.
Wingate senior Ricardo Barbosa captured the individual crown after crossing the line in 29:16.0 with an average mile pace of 4:42.
