BLUEFIELD, W. Va. (Nov. 6) – In their first-ever South Atlantic Conference Carolinas dual match, the Trojans delivered a significant 40-10 victory at Bluefield State with four victories via fall on Wednesday night.

With the win, the University of Mount Olive women's wrestling team improves to 1-0 in dual competition after beginning the year last weekend at the Trojan Open. It marked the first meeting between the sides following the start of the inaugural year of women's wrestling being sponsored as a conference sport. Meanwhile, Bluefield State drops to 0-1 this season as it begins its second year as a program.

Following three forfeits to begin the match, the Trojan held an early 15-0 advantage on Wednesday night. In the 124-weight class, sophomore Ayonna McNeill delivered a first-period pin at the 1:28 mark to stretch the lead to 20-0. Bluefield State countered with a victory at 131 before freshman Alfa Dominguez (138) and sophomore Angelica Steffy (145) delivered back-to-back wins via fall, 30-5. The Big Blue would capture another victory by fall in the 160-weight class before sophomore Reagan Smith (180) claimed a win by forfeit to extend the advantage to 35-5. In the final bout at 207, sophomore Andrea Smith won via pin to seal a 40-10 victory on the road.

Freshman O'marzria Wright competed in an exhibition and defeated Paige Altizer by fall in the first period.

Mount Olive returns to open competition this weekend on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Eagle Madness hosted by Life University.
