MOUNT OLIVE (Nov. 13) – In its first dual meet at Kornegay Arena on Wednesday night, the University of Mount Olive women's wrestling team captured a 39-10 victory over Emory & Henry in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas action.
With the win, the Trojans improve to 2-0 this season with an identical mark in conference play following the opening two weeks of the regular season. Mount Olive moves to 3-0 in the all-time series against Emory & Henry while picking up its largest win this evening. Meanwhile, the Wasps drop to 0-1 overall in its first dual competition.
Following forfeits at 103 and 110, Mount Olive established a 10-0 lead before Emory & Henry got on the board with a first-round pin in the 117-weight class, 10-5. Sophomore
Mallory McDonald answered with a quick fall over Madison Wilson at 124 before the Trojans received another forfeit in the 131-weight class to stretch the advantage to 20-5. At 138, freshman
Alfa Dominguez picked up a 10-0 tech fall versus Alexandra Costello, but the Wasps countered with a pin at 145 to close the gap to 24-10. Sophomore
Savannah Bramhall produced a first-round fall against Rihana Carson in the 160-weight class before two additional forfeits sealed the 39-10 win.
Mount Olive will return to open competition this weekend with the Blue Hose Challenge, which Presbyterian College will host at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17.
