MOUNT OLIVE (Oct. 19) – Behind four different goal scorers on Saturday afternoon, the Trojans rolled to a 5-0 victory over Shorter on Senior Day in Conference Carolinas action at Amon Field.
With the win, the University of Mount Olive men's soccer team improves to 3-4-3 this season with a 2-2-3 record in league play. It marked the first meeting between the teams in program history following the addition of Shorter to the Conference Carolinas this year. Meanwhile, the Hawks drop to 2-10-1 overall behind a 1-8-1 mark in conference action.
The Trojans scored in the opening minutes of the first half, as sophomore
Babacar Fall crossed a ball into the box before senior
Guilherme Semola netted a goal in the sixth minute to take a 1-0 edge. At the 23:12 mark, freshman
Nicolas Arze-Ynsua played a through ball to Fall, who curled a shot inside the right post to increase the lead to 2-0. Mount Olive stretched the advantage to 3-0 in the 37th minute after a corner kick fell into the box before senior
Greg Boko scored to the bottom-left corner off a short pass by junior
Jacques Sousa. At the break, UMO held a 15-3 lead in total shots with a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
In the second half, the Trojans took a 4-0 advantage in the 56th minute as Semola scored his second goal of the game off an assist by Fall. Mount Olive would add a final insurance goal at the 85:35 mark as senior
Allen Meza laced a shot into the bottom-left corner of the net off a throw-in from sophomore
Tristan Sheppert to secure a 5-0 win.

Axel Engren earned the victory after collecting one save in 57-plus minutes while fellow senior
Michael Deleo played the final 32:48 and registered one stop.
The Trojans out-shot the Hawks by a 27-5 margin while finishing with a 7-2 lead in corner kicks.
Mount Olive returns to divisional play on Tuesday, Oct. 22, when it travels to face Chowan at 3:30 p.m.
