BANNER ELK, N.C. (April 15) – In the last road contest of the season, the University of Mount Olive men's lacrosse team won by a ten-point margin Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon, 13-3.
With the win, the Trojans stand at 5-7 overall and have a 3-2 mark in league play. Mount Olive holds a 10-0 record against Lees-McRae dating back to 2013. Meanwhile, the Bobcats fall 0-13 overall and stand at 0-5 in conference play.
In the first quarter of the contest, Mount Olive netted the opening five goals of the contest. The first goal was scored by junior
Chapman Parker, 1-0. At 6:35 of the match, senior
Chance Urban passed the ball to teammate
Aidan Lalonde to bank the second goal of the game, 2-0. With back-to-back laser passes from senior
Chaz Goodman, the Trojans were led to goals from graduate student
Blake Tallon and Lalonde, 4-0. Closing the first quarter, junior
Elijah Cobb scored a goal to extend the lead by five, 5-0. At the start of the second quarter, LMU scored their first goal of the game, 5-1. In response, senior
Samuel Skousen scored back-to-back goals, 7-1. At the 8:45 mark, Cobb saw the back of the cage, scoring his second goal of the contest, 8-5. About three minutes later, Goodman scored his first goal to stretch the lead to 9-1. On a man-up opportunity, Parker netted the goal from a pass by Lalonde, 10-1. The Trojans led by nine going into halftime.
At the start of the second half, Cobb put one past the keeper, completing his hat trick. At the 5:56 mark, Lees-McRae scored their second goal of the game, 11-2. Closing the third quarter, Skousen saw Goodman and was able to score his second goal, 12-2. In the last frame, only two goals were scored in the final 15 minutes of play. At the 13:56 mark, Goodman completed his hat trick, 13-2. In the remaining minutes, the Bobcats scored the last goal of the match, 13-3, as the Trojans were able to seal the road win.
Goodman finished the game with a career high of seven points behind three goals and four assists, and collected a ground ball. Fellow teammate Cobb finished with a career high of four points, including three goals and one assist. Face off specialist
Mike Marto went 12-of-17 in the contest and collected four ground balls.

Kurtis Lensing also collected a season high of seven saves in 13 minutes between the pipes.
UMO returns to play on Thursday, April 5, in its last regular season conference game against Chowan on Senior Day at 4 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
