MOUNT OLIVE (March 28) – In a conference matchup, the University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team claimed a victory over Chowan by a 20-1 margin on Tuesday evening in Conference Carolinas play.
With the win, the Trojans improve to 6-4 overall with a 4-0 mark in league play. UMO extends its winning streak to 29-straight conference wins. Meanwhile, the Hawks fall to 0-9 this season with a 0-5 record in league action.
In the opening 28 seconds of the contest, graduate student
Morgan Paige netted the first goal, 1-0. Mount Olive scored 11-straight unanswered goals. The second goal of the match was scored by senior
Bria Hamilton, after receiving a pass from sophomore
Rileigh White, 2-0. At the 12:22-mark, Paige scored her second goal of the game, 3-0. With back-to-back goals from graduate student
Meagan Maxwell, the Trojans were up 5-0. Soon after, White scored her first goal of the game, ending the first quarter with an 8-0 advantage. In the second quarter, Mount Olive was first to score as Maxwell received a pass from Hamilton, 9-0. Zoe Dougherty put one past the keeper, 11-0.
In the start of the second half, Maxwell dodged her defender and put the ball in the back of the cage, 12-0. At the 8:51-mark of the game, Chowan scored its first and only goal of the match, 12-1. Scoring her 35th goal of the season, Davis found the net at the 3:50-mark of the game, 13-1. Soon after, Dougherty flew past her defenders and scored, completing her hat trick, 14-1. Sara Livingstone scored at the 6:50-mark, 18-1. Nearing the end of the match, the Trojans were able to seal the win with goals from sophomore

Maxwell finished the game with four goals, two assists, three groundballs, and two caused turnovers. Davis finished the game with a career high of five assists in a game. She also finished with a goal, and four draw controls.

Claire Hagen collected four saves on six shots on goal in 45 minutes between the posts.
The Trojans hit the road this weekend as they travel to Belmont Abbey to play on Saturday, April 1, at 1 p.m.
