MOUNT OLIVE (March 21) – The University of Mount Olive women's tennis program seals its second conference win by defeating Chowan 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon at John Neal Walker Tennis Center.
With the win, the Trojans improve to 7-9 overall this season with a 2-0 mark in league action. Meanwhile, Chowan, who fell to Barton in its conference opener, drops to 5-8 behind a 0-2 record in conference play.

Nele Weber registered a 6-2 win over Maria Estinvil and Manuela Jimenez, before the No. 43-ranked doubles team of senior

Oriana Izarra defeated Sreshta Puducheri and Selene Kentish with a score of 6-2 in the second slot. In third doubles, sophomore
Jessica Aylward and freshman
Laura Servien prevailed by a 6-0 margin against Valentina Domenicone and Micayah Porter.
Mount Olive went on to win four out of six singles matches to seal the team victory. In first singles, Montserrat battled down Feidi Abreu Rodriguez in three sets 5-7, 7-5, 6-2, before Voloshyna followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win versus Jimenez. In the third session, Izarra downed Kentish 6-3, 6-0, while Servien overcame Domenicone in three sets with a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-7) count in fourth singles. In the fifth slot, freshman
Harshri Asher fell to Porter 6-4, 6-1, before Aylward suffered a 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 (10-7) loss against Puducheri.
The Trojans will return to action with two more matches this week beginning Friday, Mar. 24, against Converse at 2:00 p.m. at John Neal Walker Tennis Center.
