MOUNT OLIVE (Feb. 24) – The Trojans were unable to overcome early deficits in all three sets in a 3-0 loss against King on Friday night in Conference Carolinas action at Kornegay Arena.
With the loss, the University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team drops to 5-9 overall with a 1-5 mark in conference play. Meanwhile, King improves to 9-11 this season behind a 4-2 record in league action.
Sophomore
Tate Sandvig finished with a team-high eight kills while adding seven digs against the Tornado. Junior
Tom Klotzbuecher tallied six kills on a .385 hitting percentage with three digs, while freshman
Kory Grant and junior
Justin Gregory produced five kills in the loss. Freshman
Jackson Lahey and junior
Jack Yerxa directed the offense with 16 and 11 assists, respectively.
Senior
Trevor Treser led the defensive effort with nine digs and Sandvig totaled seven on Friday night. At the net, freshman
Constantinos Iacovou recorded three blocks (all assisted), while Gregory delivered two blocks.
Mount Olive returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 25, when it continues league play against Lees-McRae in Kornegay Arena, at 2 p.m.
