MOUNT OLIVE (Oct. 6) – Behind three players with double-digit kills on Friday night, the Trojans collected a 3-0 sweep over Emmanuel in Conference Carolinas action at Kornegay Arena.
With the win, the University of Mount Olive women's volleyball program improves to 12-6 this season behind a 6-1 mark in conference play. Additionally, the Trojans will surpass two years undefeated in league play at Kornegay Arena with the last loss versus North Greenville in Oct. 2021. Meanwhile, Emmanuel drops to 10-8 overall with a 6-3 mark in conference play after making the Conference Carolinas Championship last season.

Karoline Cox and freshman
Kaitlyn Landis tied the game-high with 11 kills in the win on Friday. Cox registered a staggering .450 hitting percentage with five digs, one solo block and an ace. Junior
Ashlyn Stone registered a kill/dig double-double for a consecutive match after tallying 10 kills and 13 digs against the Lions. Junior
Callie Mullins produced nine kills on a .438 clip while sophomore
Kate Carter delivered seven kills. Freshman
Lyndsay Reid guided the offense with her eighth assist/dig double-double after recording 22 assists and 13 digs, while adding three service aces. Senior
Jenna Myer produced 18 assists and six digs for the Trojans.

Morgan Prots led the defensive effort with 18 digs while Reid and Stone also reached double figures. Sophomore
Caroline Sheaffer contributed nine digs and an ace while Carter totaled a pair of blocks at the net.
In the opening set, the Lions established a slight 8-6 lead before the Trojans responded with six straight points to take a 12-6 advantage. After trading the next four points, Mount Olive mounted a 5-0 run to stretch the lead to 19-10 with kills from three different players. Emmanuel countered to close the gap to 21-16, but UMO scored four of the final six points to earn the win, 25-18.
The Trojans built an early 10-6 lead in the second set behind a 6-1 run before the sides exchanged the next eight points. The Lions tallied back-to-back kills to trim the deficit to 14-12, but Mount Olive scored five of the following six points to extend the advantage, 19-13. Emmanuel rallied with five unanswered points to trail 19-18 before UMO stretched the lead to 23-20 following two kills from Carter. The Lions battled back to close the gap to 24-23 before Mullins delivered the game-winning kill, 25-23.
After trailing by a 7-6 margin to begin the third set, UMO responded with a 5-1 rally to take an 11-8 advantage. The Lions countered by scoring six of the following seven points to reclaim the lead, 14-12. Emmanuel continued to hold the advantage at 17-15 before the Trojans totaled six straight points, 21-17. The Lions cut the deficit twice and eventually tied the match at 24-24, but Mount Olive registered consecutive points to complete the sweep, 26-24.
Mount Olive returns to Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday, Oct. 10, when its travels to face Chowan at 6 p.m.
