Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 4) – The University of Mount Olive men's tennis team opened the fall portion of its 2022 season with a combined 32 victories in singles and doubles play this weekend at the Methodist Fall Invitational.
UMO sent 10 players to the individual competition, which took place from Friday through Sunday in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The Trojans competed in the three-day event against a variety of local schools, including Methodist, Guilford, North Carolina Wesleyan and Averett.
Senior
Israel Rodriguez Rojas finished play at the invitational with a perfect 6-0 record, including three wins in singles play. As a team, Mount Olive posted an astounding 21-9 mark in singles action with seven players collecting multiple wins in the event. The trio of sophomore

Daniel Hammond all recorded 3-0 marks in singles play at Methodist.

Kabir Chhabria all registered a 2-1 record in the opening event of the season.
Mount Olive went 11-4 in doubles play over the weekend with the tandem of Rodriguez Rojas and Ortega Cadahia posting three wins in Fayetteville. The remaining four doubles teams tallied two victories on Friday before performing strongly in singles action on Saturday and Sunday.
Mount Olive will continue the individual portion of its fall season next weekend at the Conference Carolinas Fall Tournament from Sept. 9-11 in Sumter, South Carolina.
