CENTRAL, S.C. (Sept. 24) – The University of Mount Olive women's soccer team extended its winning streak to five-straight after posting a 3-2 win at South Wesleyan in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday.
With the win, the Trojans improve to 6-3 overall with a 5-0 mark in league play. Mount Olive has now won the last nine meetings between the sides, including scoring at least three goals in the previous six matches. Meanwhile, the Warriors fall to 2-6-1 this season behind a 1-4-1 record in conference action.

Delia Allwood, who scored into the left-side of the net to take a 1-0 lead. The Trojans continued to apply pressure with five shots over the next 10-plus minutes, including three on goal. Allwood would net her second goal of the game in the 12th minute after a missed clearance by the Warrior defense allowed her to score into the near post, 2-0. Southern Wesleyan was awarded a penalty at the 19:57-mark and trimmed the deficit after senior Bryanna Picken scored the goal, 2-1.
In the second half, Mount Olive regained its two-goal lead after senior
Maelwenn Gaiffas scored on a penalty kick in the 51st minute, 3-1. The Trojans would apply pressure on the attacking side over the next 10-plus minutes and hit the woodwork twice during that span. The Warriors found a goal in the closing minutes after senior Brooke Cash scored on a failed clearance by the UMO defense at the 81:42-mark, 3-2.

Nicole Solicito collected one save on three shots faced in 90 minutes of play on Saturday.
The Trojans out-shot the Warriors by a 33-3 margin, including a 14-3 edge in shots on goal, while also posting a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Mount Olive returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 27, when it hosts Barton in league play, starting at 4 p.m.
