Mount Olive Softball Sweeps Southern Wesleyan As Kylie Emanuele Breaks UMO School Record

Central, S.C. - The University of Mount Olive softball team swept a doubleheader against Southern Wesleyan University; taking game one 12-3 and winning game two 13-2. UMO now improves to 32-8, 13-3 on the season. Kylie Emanuele went onto make history in game two.

GAME ONE INFORMATION
The opening game had UMO take an early 2-0 lead. Southern Wesleyan countered with a single run in the third, but still trailed 2-1. 

Mount Olive's lead continued to grow throughout the game as they pushed home a run in every inning heading into the sixth. In the seventh The Trojans blasted home six runs and ballooned their lead into 12-3 and took game one.

GAME TWO INFORMATION
In game two UMO was setting up for something special. From the opening inning Kylie Emanuele put the Trojans in front with a two-run home run, her 11th of the season. After Mount Olive pushed home three more runs in the second the lead increased to 5-0.

UMO then took all the momentum in the third. Kylie Emanuele on the first pitch of the third made history. She lifted a pitch over the left field wall and with it became the All-Time UMO leader in home runs in a season with her 12th long ball of the 2022 season. Emanuele surpassed UMO Hall of Famer Jenny Jackson Taylor who hit 11 home runs in 2008.

Southern Wesleyan had no answer for UMO as they saw the Trojans score seven more runs and cruised to the 13-2 win.

TROJAN LEADERS
Emanuele led UMO with eight RBI on the day

Hannah Killough (15-6) and Hailey Kessinger (6-0) both went the distance allowing two earned runs each both earning a win.

The Trojans remain on the road against UNC Pembroke April 5 in Pembroke, N.C. at 2/4 p.m. Tuesday.
