Trojan Softball Split Games At Belmont Abbey

Belmont, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive softball team split a doubleheader against Belmont Abbey College taking game one 11-2, before falling in game two 12-11 Saturday afternoon. UMO now improves to 20-6, 3-1 on the season.

GAME ONE INFORMATION
Mount Olive and Belmont Abbey were in a pitching dual for the first four innings until and RBI-single from BAC broke the tie. Carly Curcio tied the game again in the seventh and forced extra innings.

In the eight UMO exploded for 10 runs off five hits to seal an 11-2 win in game one.

TROJAN LEADERS
Megan Bryant led the Trojans with three RBI going 2-5.
Hannah Killough (10-4) went the distance allowing two runs, one earned, off five hits and struck out 11.

GAME TWO INFORMATION
The second contest had the Crusaders jump out to a 4-0 lead after the first. UMO went onto surrender seven more runs over the next three innings and Belmont Abbey led 11-4.

Following a one-run top of the fifth for UMO, the Trojans caught fire and tied the game in the sixth with six runs; highlighted by another Curcio home run.

Mount Olive was unable to push home the go-ahead run in the seventh and due to that BAC doubled home a run and walked-off with the 12-11 victory in the bottom of the seventh.

TROJAN LEADERS
Madison Morgan led UMO with four hits and two RBI in game two.

Hannah Killough (10-5) was pinned with the loss in relief.

The Trojans remain on the road to take on Converse University March 20 at 12 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C.
