Mount Olive, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive baseball team completed the three-game sweep over Chowan University in Conference Carolinas action Sunday at Scarborough Field. UMO improves to 14-6, 8-1, while Chowan falls 5-15, 0-9.
GAME INFORMATION
The first game proved to be a no contest for the visiting Hawks as Mount Olive pushed home 12 runs over five innings to take game one 12-1. The Trojans only managed one extra base hit but it was enough to take game one.
Game was a different story as Chowan jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first. They increased the lead to 4-0 after the third and held that lead until the eighth.
Mount Olive took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the eighth when Vito Patierno doubled down the left field line scoring Jack Casbarro and Dylan Jefferies. Alden Cottle helped extend the lead with a two-run shot over the left field wall and UMO led 8-5.
Chowan was able to get a runner on in the top of the ninth but were unable to push home any runs and the Trojans took the finale 8-5 and swept the series.
TROJAN LEADERS
Cottle lef the Trojans with six RBI on a 4-for-8 showing from the plate. Caleb Irwin (3-0) and Justin Koehler (2-1) both got the win in the double header.

The Mount Olive Trojans will take on Dominican in a double header Tuesday March 15 at Scarborough Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
