MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive men's basketball team defeated the Hawks of Chowan University 83-66 on Tuesday. This win takes the Trojans to 14-12 overall and 13-9 in Conference.
INSIDE THE SCORE
UMO took an early lead in the first half with a three pointer from Javian Cannady 3-0 with 19:25 remaining. A minute later the Hawks took the lead but not before the Trojans took they momentum and gained a 10 point lead with 15:58 remaining. A Trojan layup increased the UMO lead to 13 with 11:02 remaining. With 8:26 on the clock Mount Olive increased their lead to 19 31-12. The Hawks had no answer for the Trojan offense as UMO ended the first half with a 21 point lead 48-27.
The Trojans saw the first three points in the second half to pull their lead to 24. Chowan cut the Trojan lead to 15 with 16:34 remaining in the contest. The Hawks could not come within 15 of the Trojans for the remainder of the contest. UMO took the 17 point victory 83-66.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
Alan Treakle led the Trojans with 26 points, while Micheal Brown had nine assists and eight rebounds.
HAWKS LEADERS
The Hawks were led by Daylan Askew with 17 points.
