SALISBURY, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive softball team defeated Coker University in a doubleheader on the road 13-10/3-0 Wednesday afternoon. UMO now improves to 6-0 on the season.
GAME ONE INFORMATION
Mount Olive became to first to push a run home in the first as
Madison Morgan's sacrifice fly gave UMO a 1-0.
Kylie Emanuele added another run also via the sacrifice fly and UMO led 2-0. Catawba was unable to stop the Mount Olive offense for the entire game, as the Trojans pushed across eight more runs over the next three innings ending game one in the fifth via the mercy rule.
TROJAN LEADERS
Carly Curcio had two hits, four RBI, and a home run to lead UMO in game one.
Lauren King (3-0) went the distance allowing only three hits, a trio of walks, and seven strikeouts as she shutout the Indians.
GAME TWO INFORMATION
Game two had once again Mount Olive in firm control. The Trojans collected three runs in the top of the first and added a single run in the fourth and three in the sixth, off a Morgan home run. Catawba was held to just two hits as UMO cruised to the 7-0 win and sweep.
TROJAN LEADERS
Morgan led the offense in game two cashing in three runs on one hit in game two.
Hannah Killough (5-0) threw her second consecutive complete game shutout allowing only two hits with 12 strikeouts.
ON DECK
The Trojans remain on the road to take on Queens University and Southern New Hampshire February 20 in Charlotte, N.C. First pitch against Queens is scheduled for 1 p.m.
