UMO Softball Takes Two From Coker On The Road

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The University of Mount Olive softball team defeated Coker University in a doubleheader on the road 13-10/3-0 Wednesday afternoon. UMO now improves to 6-0 on the season.

GAME ONE INFORMATION
Mount Olive became to first to push a run home in the first as Madison Morgan's two RBI-single gave UMO a 2-0. Coker however answered and regained the lead on a three-run home run in the bottom half.

Mount Olive regained the lead in the second, but it was a six-run fourth that put the Trojans in front for good. Highlighted in the frame was Cassandra Lassiter's grand slam that ended the scoring run.

Coker did not go away quietly as the Cobras scored seven runs over the next two innings to tie the game at 10.

After UMO regained the lead in the top of the sixth, Megan Bryant sealed the game one win with a two RBI-single giving the Trojans a three run lead and the win.

TROJAN LEADERS
Lassiter had two hits, four RBI, and a home run to lead UMO in game one.
Hannah Killough (3-0) earned the win in relief throwing the final two innings of shutout softball walking only two Cobras.

GAME TWO INFORMATION
Game two saw only three runs scored, all from Kylie Emanuele, including a two-RBI double from Emanuele in the first. Mount Olive closed the game out with a singel run in the seventh as they held off any comeback attempt from Coker.

TROJAN LEADERS
Emanuele led the offense in game two cashing in three runs on one hit in game two.

Hannah Killough (4-0) following a win in game one in relief, threw a complete game shutout allowing only seven hits with nine strikeouts.

ON DECK
The Trojans remain on the road to take on Catawba College in a doubleheader February 19 in Salisbury, N.C. First pitch is scheduled for 2 pm.
