Lauren King Throws Perfect Game, Hannah Killough Follows With A No-Hitter As UMO Softball Rolls Over Fayetteville State

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive softball team defeated Fayetteville State in a doubleheader on the road 12-0/11-0 Saturday afternoon. UMO now improves to 4-0 on the season.

GAME ONE INFORMATION
The Trojans began game one with the offensive power, in the second as a solo home run and an RBI-single broke the scoring for UMO. The offense of the Trojans pummeled the home Broncos as Mount Olive added 10 more runs over the next five innings. Highlighting th offense was Kylie Emanuele who belted three home runs in the game, including two solo shots.

TROJAN LEADERS
Emanuele had four hits, five RBI, and three home runs to lead UMO in game one.
Lauren King (2-0) earned the win in the circle throwing a perfect game, including nine strikeouts, 11 ground outs and one fly out over seven innings. The perfect game is only the fourth in the past 16 year of UMO Softball. The last Trojan to accomplish that feat was Hall of Famer Jenny Jackson in 2007 against Coker.

GAME TWO INFORMATION
Game two had the same message in game one, score a plenty. UMO began the contest with two runs in the first and added at least a run in every inning until the final 11-0 victory in the fifth, to round out the two game sweep.

TROJAN LEADERS
Madison Morgan led the offense in game two cashing in three runs on three hits in game two.

Adding to the pitching dominance was Hannah Killough (2-0) throwing a no-hitter over the five complete innings she registered. Killough retired all but one Fayetteville State batter, striking out 12.

COACH'S COMMENTS
"Today was a great overall day for the program. Our pitchers took our last games and improved upon them. Lauren came out and threw a perfect game and Hannah threw a no hitter. Our offense made the adjustments we needed to make in the box and a lot of different people were able to contribute. Kylie Emanuele obviously had a stellar day that really elevated the level of production around her, so there are a lot of positives to take away from the day," said Head Coach Mandy Sansbury.

ON DECK
The Trojans remain on the road to take on Coker University in a doubleheader February 16 in Hartsville, S.C. First pitch is scheduled for 2 pm.
