Sam Widelski and senior
Amara Eziakonwa combined for 22 kills on Tuesday night, as the Trojans swept Barton by a 3-0 margin (25-18, 25-15, 25-21) at Kornegay Arena in Conference Carolinas play.
With the win, the University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team improves to 11-7 overall behind a 4-1 mark in conference action. The Trojans have won four-straight meetings against the Bulldogs and remain undefeated at home this year. Meanwhile, Barton drops to 2-10 this season with a 1-4 mark in league play.
Widelski led all players with 12 kills and became the fifth UMO player to reach 100 kills this season. She has tallied double-digit kills in four matches this season while registering 34 kills over the last three contests. Eziakonwa followed close behind with 10 kills on a .500 hitting percentage, while sophomore
Ashlyn Stone finished with eight kills on a .500 clip in the win. Seniors

Madison Goodman directed the offense with 21 and 17 assists, respectively.

Morgan Prots guided the defense with 13 digs and added five assists against the Bulldogs. Widelski registered nine digs, while sophomore
Neza Pec totaled seven kills and six digs on Tuesday. Eziakonwa and Goodman each tallied three service aces, while the Trojans featured three players with two blocks.
The Trojans took a 1-0 match lead after recording 17 kills on a .433 hitting percentage. Barton established an 7-6 advantage before UMO countered with four-consecutive points to take a 10-7 lead. Following a Bulldog kill, Mount Olive used a 6-2 run to stretch the advantage to 16-10 after a pair of kill from Widelski, 16-10. Both sides traded the next six points before the Trojans scored five of the following seven points. After consecutive points by Barton, UMO claimed the first set by a score of 25-18.
In the second set, Mount Olive grabbed a 2-0 advantage after leading the set wire-to-wire behind 12 kills. The Trojans jumped out to a 13-4 lead before posting five-consecutive points to take a 17-4 advantage, including back-to-back kills from senior
Alyssa Jackson. The Bulldogs tallied three of the following four points before UMO scored three-straight to extend the lead, 21-7. Barton used a pair of 4-0 runs to cut the deficit to 24-15 before Mount Olive closed out the set 25-15 following an attacking error.
UMO secured the victory by a 3-0 count after totaling a game-high 18 kills in third set. The Trojans held a 10-8 lead in the set before registering four-consecutive points to take a 14-8 advantage. The Bulldogs went on a 6-1 run to trim the deficit to 15-14 before Mount Olive scored seven of the following eight points to stretch the lead to 22-15. Barton answered with a 5-1 run before kills by Goodman and Stone seal the win, 25-21.
The Trojans return to action on Friday, Oct. 7, when they travel to face Erskine in league play, starting at 6 p.m.
